If you are a first-generation and/or income-eligible student, what has your experience been like at UCSB?

My experience has been extremely rewarding. However, I have experienced some stress financially.

What would you like to share with students about your experience at UCSB?

What I would like to share about my experience at UCSB is that since I have started school there I have met so many incredible and influential people. I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities UCSB has to offer, and there are so many things I have made sure to take advantage of as I know I probably won't get to explore these opportunities later in life.

Top tips for fellow students?

Find your community on campus! It made my year do a complete 360 for the better.

Best advice you've received that has helped you at UCSB?

Don't forget that you have some time. Focus on the classes that are super important to protect your GPA so you don't spread yourself too thin! There's so much to get involved with it's easy to do that.

Why did you choose to be an EOP peer mentor?

I chose to become an EOP peer mentor because the AIICRC peer mentors were so helpful to me my freshman year and I hope to help other students the way they helped me!
