What would you like to share with students about your experience at UCSB?

Although transitioning to college life at UCSB was overwhelming, I was able to become a successful student by learning through trial and error and leaning on my support system when in need. Remember to be kind to yourself, and just take things day by day.

Top tips for fellow students?

The best way to study is to practice active recall, rewrite notes in your own words, and most importantly, asking for help! Don't be afraid to ask questions when confused, as this is just apart of the learning process. Make sure to take advantage of the various resources that CLAS offers, this was a personal lifesaver for me as I struggled through STEM prerequisite classes my first year.

Why did you choose to be an EOP peer mentor?

I chose to be an EOP peer mentor because I knew I had an abundance of knowledge and experience to share with incoming students. College can be a difficult time in life for many students, and I personally experienced numerous set backs. On the bright side, being a peer mentor has given me the opportunity to support students experiencing similar hardships.
